Read Full ArticleIn early July 2011, a BC Hydro 230kV transmission tower adjacent to the Fraser River collapsed as a result of high water levels. Allteck was deployed on an emergency basis to ensure the tower was brought to a safe condition, and BC Hydro contracted Allteck to reconstruct a portion of the circuit including the construction of a massive steel lattice tower that will allow the transmission circuit to span a much wider section of the river corridor. This was a particularly safety-sensitive project as the circuit crosses a major highway, a section of the river that is navigated by a large volume of marine traffic and a substantial rail yard.
In August 2011 Hurricane Irene blasted the east coast of the United States with high winds and torrential rain. Allteck sent 26 powerline technicians to assist with the power restoration effort.
